We are both a virtual and a mobile museum. You are now visiting the virtual museum.
The GLBT History Museum is a non-profit public charity and was formed to collect, archive and share the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender history of Central Florida. Because local GLBT history is missing in the mainstream media and cannot be found in Central Florida museums, a handful of local activists took it upon themselves to uncover this history and make it available to our community and the general public.
Here in the GLBT virtual museum you will find a historical timeline, memorials and photographs of our history. All material archived on these pages are public domain and available to all.The local GLBT Historical Timeline will give you a brief summary of our local GLBT history. The Photo Archive gallery which has approximately 10,000 images will show you varied aspects of Central Florida's GLBT community.
You can help the Museum to expand and achieve greater accuracy by giving us feedback. We hope that some of your comments will add to or clarify content in the virtual museum. Also, if you find something to be missing, how about writing an article or submitting information, pictures and/or other material about what is missing.
Please become a member of the Museum. We need your help, your financial support, to continue the work of preserving local GLBT history. The Museum's work has expanded but its budget has decreased. We need your help now. You can become a member by clicking on the yellow "JOIN TODAY" icon on the Home Page. Memberships are tax deductible.
The GLBT History Museum and its many activities would not be possible without membership support, the tireless efforts of the board members of GLBT History Museum of Central Florida and Museum volunteers, and sponsorship by the Metropolitan Business Association, Come Out With Pride, Darden, the GLBT Community Center, and our many contributors of local historic GLBT items.
